DCVG-UK manufactured useful equipment. when DC is applied to a pipeline in the same manner as in cathodic protection, a voltage gradient is established in the ground due to the passage of current through the resistive soil to the bare steel exposed at a coating fault.

The voltage gradient becomes larger and more concentrated the greater the current flowing and the closer you are to a coating fault location. In general,  the larger the fault, the greater the current flow and hence bigger the voltage gradient.

The direct current voltage gradient method (DCVG) uses a sensitive mili-volt meter, to indicate the potential difference between two copper/copper sulphate half cells placed in the soil in the voltage gradient at ground level. If spaced two metres apart in a voltage gradient, one half cell will adopt a more positive potential than the other, which thus enables the size of the gradient and direction of the current flow causing the voltage gradient to be established.

The Tinker & Rasor SR-2 Soil Resistivity Meter is a highly accurate and easy-to-use soil resistivity instrument for use with the 2-pin and 4-pin (Wenner) methods of soil resistance measurement. A pin selector switch allows choosing between 2-pin and 4-pin tests without removing cables.

The Model CE-IT Insulator Tester is a fully automatic, highly sensitive, LCD readout device to test buried pipeline insulators and isolation of pipelines in road crossing casings to determine their effectiveness. It automatically adjusts to the voltage polarity present on underground pipeline systems in under 20 seconds. An audible signal is heard when the test cycle is completed. Indentation Tester or Indentation resistance tester is highly useful for testing of indentation hardness using penetrometer of polypropylene (PP) and polyethylene (PE) material at above ambient temperature upto 90°C or 120°C up to 6 samples at a time. Indentation Test is recommended as per ISO 21809-1:2011 / DIN 30670: 2012 standard.

Indentation resistance tester has indentation or penetrometer for punching in the coating under fixed conditions of temperature and load in liquid media such as water.

Caltech Engineering Services offers low temperature indentation bath, which is highly useful for testing of coating material at above ambient temperature upto -5 deg Cent. Uniform temperature is maintains in the bath, measured by electronic display on the control panel. Timer can be set to the required time to continuously run the test.

The Model PD Detector and null Method have been well accepted by the industry. Acclaimed to be the fastest method known to accurately locate points of electrical contact and insulating joints on coated pipelines. This type survey may be conducted on coated pipelines regardless of their location. Unaffected by parallel lines, depths or cover, the survey can often be, in part, conducted from a moving vehicle over the pipe. In brief, the Null Method follows the flow of impressed audio frequency current in a coated pipe and determines where it leaves. The point of current discharge is determined by a sharp disturbance of the null itself rather than the signal level of the audio frequency. This method is quite practical, particularly as competent field personnel can interpret findings quickly and accurately.

The oscillator provided with the set has been designed to use the latest developments in this type of instrumentation. A signal of 750 c.p.s. is generated by using a power transistor switching circuit. This arrangement eliminates troublesome vibrators, buzzers or other moving part elements. The Transistor Oscillator converts low voltage (twelve volts) d.c. to stable audio frequency a.c. directly and hence, by a highly efficient method, the input current to the Oscillator is only 1.7 amperes for a full output of fifteen watts, a conversion efficiency of better than 80%. In order that a maximum of energy can be transferred from the Oscillator to the pipe, the output of the oscillator is provided with taps so that voltages of 2.5. 5, 7.5, 15, 50, and 100 volts are available to match the load. An interrupter is provided to make the signal more easily recognized. 

Silver Silver Chloride sea water / marine service reference cell is the regular immersion reference electrode to measure electrical potentials for corrosion engineers. Polarization cell protects against induced AC current and ground fault current on buried pipelines. Polarisation cells permit low-level voltage of cathodic protection to uniform flow and prevent hazardous voltages. Polarization cell consist of multiple plates of steel arranged, fixed and immersed in 30% KOH (Potassium Hydroxide) solution. Specially selected oil layer stop the evaporation of solution to some extend. It is advisable to verify the solution level periodically. Polarization cell is fitted in transparent body to check solution level. Normal storage of cell does not have any internal voltage and act as a grounding switch in presence of high voltage. Polarisation cell works on electrochemical principle. Installed plates with large surface area polarize and allow in developing safe DC voltage suitable for cathodic protection. As the voltage increases from DC or AC voltage, the polarisation film breaks and polarization cell conduct current. Specially designed polarization cells have properties to retain solution level to the maximum period with specially added floating oil. Polarisation cells are designed to protect personnel and equipment from electrical disturbances
